Regular Mixes

Basic information:

Most common design. Contains #57 aggregate size and typically 3"-6" slump design.

Use and applications:

Flatwork (driveways, sidewalks, patios), foundations, slabs on grade, and elevated decks. Placed from the mixer or through a truck mounted boom pump.

Pea Rock Mixes

Basic information:

Contains #89 aggregate size and typically 3"-6" slump design.

Use and applications:

Topping applications or vertical work such as beams, columns, or shearwalls, and in tight congested areas where large aggregate is not suitable. Placed from the mixer, or through a trailer pump with minimum hose diameter of 2".

Pea Rock Pump Mixes

Basic information:

Contains #89 aggregate size and typically 5" slump design.

Use and applications:

Vertical work such as beams, columns, or shearwalls, and in tight congested areas where large aggregate is not suitable. Placed from the mixer, or through a trailer pump with minimum hose diameter of 2". Due to higher slump and shrinkage characteristics, the mix is not normally recommended for flatwork.

Grouts

Basic information:

Can contain no coarse aggregate or #89 sized stones. Typical slump 8"-11" design.

Use and applications:

Primarily for masonry fill. Placed primarily through a trailer pump with a minimum hose diameter of 2".

Fiber Reinforced Mixes

Basic information:

Various mix types and fibers available. Designs are based upon engineer specifications and desired characteristics. Fibers include synthetics, macro synthetics, structural steel, composite and combinations.

Use and applications:

Residential and commercial applications for plastic shrinkage crack control, steel reinforcement reductions and toppings. Placements depend on type of mix required.

Architectural/Decorative Mixes

Basic information:

These mixes can include decorative aggregates such as granite, shell, or river gravel, where surfaces can be exposed. Integral colors can be added to meet almost any selection.

Use and applications:

Primarily in flatwork for slabs on grade, finished floors, sidewalks, driveways, and patios. Excellent alternative to brick or pavers.

High Slump Mixes

Basic information:

High Range and Mid Range water reducers added to increase slump without the negative strength & shrinkage impacts from excessive water addition.

Use and applications:

Used primarily in tight, congested areas such as columns and shearwalls, when consolidation and coverage concerns exist.

Self Consolidating Mixes

Basic information:

These mixes are chemically designed to flow rates based upon specifications. Measured in inches of spread, typical designs are 22" to 28" inches of spread diameter.

Use and applications:

Precast, structures, or flatwork where flatness criteria are critical. Concrete requires little or no vibration, and will flow leaving no voids.

Corrosion Resistant Mixes

Basic information:

These mixes use chemicals to resist corrosion of metal reinforcement or concrete degradation due to high salinity environment.

Use and applications:

Primary applications are balconies or concrete exposed to salt water environments such sea walls, etc.

Light Weight Mixes

Basic information:

Contains aggregates such solite, perilite, or pumice, specifically designed for lower the unit weights.

Use and applications:

Primarily elevated decks or balconies, where weight factors exist, but overall strength is required.

Heavy Weight Mixes

Basic information:

Contains aggregates such as barium or iron ore, specifically designed for increased concrete density.

Use and applications:

Radiation vaults or bridge counterweights.

Shrinkage Resistant Mixes

Basic information:

These mixes are chemically designed to prevent dry shrinkage and allow for greater joint spacing. In some applications, all joints can be eliminated.

Use and applications:

Primarily flat, hard floor slabs such as industrial warehouses, or elevated decks to minimize shrinkage cracking.

FDOT Mixes

Basic information:

These mixes are approved by the Florida Department of Transportation, and are specified to use.

Use and applications:

Most are specified by strength, use, and durability, and cover application such as bridges, curb and sidewalk, road pavements, structures and other such drill shafts.

Flowable Fills

Basic information:

Two types - Excavate-able and Non-Excavate. Contains typically sand and cement.

Use and applications:

Typically used as back fill, or to fill sink holes, abandoned pipelines and underground structures. The excavate-able types are low strength, and can be easily removed.

Shotcrete Mixes

Basic information:

Contains #89 sized aggregate, and designed at very low or zero slump

Use and applications:

Primarily used for pool construction, but can also be used for lining or repair applications where vertical coatings are required.

Pervious Mixes

Basic information:

Contains #89 sized aggregate, and designed specifically to allow water to filtrate through the voids in the concrete.

Use and applications:

Due to the low-strength nature of the product, this should be used in light duty applications such as car parking lots and walkways, and will require maintenance in order to prevent clogging.
